Future of North Mid hospital

North Mid, or North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, is currently exploring whether the hospital based in Sterling Way, Edmonton should become part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. This would mean that, like Chase Farm and Barnet Hospitals, decisions about North Mid would be made by the Royal Free.

Since 2016, the North Mid have been in a clinical partnership with the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust however options are open to North Mid to explore a closer working relationship.

The decision to consider the future of North Mid is in response to changing needs of the local population as the hospital aims to provide:

  • excellent outcomes for patients
  • excellent experience for patients and staff
  • excellent value for money

In July, Healthwatch Enfield hosted two consultation events that focused on the current challenges faced by the North Mid and what local people would need to know to make an informed decision about the partnership options with the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. In September, we will be publishing a report outling the feedback shared by local stakeholders that senior leadership at the North Mid should consider when looking at the options.

The North Mid Trust Board will be announcing their decision at a public board meeting on Thursday 4th October 2018 at 9:30am – 11:30am. The meeting is open to members of the public; more information about it can be found on the North Mid website.
