Mail on Sunday Parks Petition

As in other parts of Britain, as you know, due to budgetary restrictions, our local Council provides very little funding for our local parks despite the proven benefits of open spaces to residents’ mental and physical well-being.

The Mail on Sunday are currently running a campaign to Save Our Parks.

Thousands of Britain’s parks and play areas are falling into disrepair or are under threat of being sold to developers. This is despite the vital health and social benefits that our much-loved green spaces provide.

They want:

  • A statutory requirement for councils to ring-fence funding for parks at £30 per household per year.
  • There to be a legal duty for all green space to be managed to a good standard.
  • New rules banning the development on, or the inappropriate use of, parkland.
  • A new central Government fund to provide emergency help for parks most at risk and ensure the long-term future of Britain’s green spaces.

If you are in agreement then please sign the petition.  Deadline for signing is 12th April 2019
