BHPRA President art exhibition at Stanton’s café

BHPRA President, Jean Kingsnorth, has a number of her pictures on display at the café. Inspired by the Argonaut legends and the Odyssey, Jean’s pictures are a vivid imagining of the timelessness of mythology. The five pictures are depictions of aerial views of ancient cities and landscapes seen in different seasons.

Jean has painted all her life, following her grandmother and great-grandmother’s footsteps, and her work over the last thirty years has been based on the Argonaut legends which she has found both fascinating and rewarding though its richness.

Jean went to art college and then read Art History at university. In her first year at university Jean studied the Renaissance but her final two years were on Modern Art and this has clearly influenced Jean’s style.

Jean’s approach is to think about the work very carefully, produces sketches but then produces the final work quote quickly. This is necessitated by the choice of material—acrylic—which Jean prefers as it gives greater body, but it dries very quickly.

All the exhibits are for sale.
